What is the general consensus on how badly the engine bay heat affects the lifespan of an MSD 6AL box when mounted on the firewall of the engine bay?
I've seen people mount their 6AL boxes where the map pouch goes in the passenger side interior of the car, and some people mount theirs to the firewall in the engine bay. Mine is currently mounted in the engine bay, so I would rather not have to rewire it to mount it inside, but I also want this thing to last a long time.

Here or there in the engine bay may not swing too much between minimum and maximum temperatures. Up high on the firewall, as far away from the headers as you can manage I think would be the best if the firewall is the only choice.
I've had an MSD 6AL box under the hood in my Camaro for more than 20 years but I chose the coolest location I could think of to mount it.
So far so good.
On a similar note, I've been noticing an increased bashing of MSD products in general. What used to last doesn't anymore. I can't relate anything specific on my end but that's the rumblings in the forum world as I've seen it.
