‘84 Trans Am Electrical Issues

My horn, power mirrors and door locks don’t work. Are they on the same circuit?

And perhaps the radio memory, cig lighter, and the interior lights, as well?

They all rely on the CTSY fuse.

That makes sense! The fuse for that was removed by the previous owner because the power antenna runs continuously and would kill the battery. Thanks! I will try and report back.

:smh:

The fuse for that was removed by the previous owner because ...
No, that's not quite right. The fuse was removed by the PO because he was a LAZY HACK. All the rest of that was just how he justified his laziness and hackitude to himself.

There's a plug under the pass side dash that runs the PA. Has about 5 wires in it; seems like there's orange, grey, white, green, and one or 2 others. Unplug that and put the fuse back in. Plug it back in of course after you replace the cable in the antenna as you're definitely going to be doing because you're NOT a LAZY HACK.

Everything powered by an orange wire in the interior runs off of that fuse. It distributes unswitched battery to all that stuff that needs to run whether the key is on or not.

You never know what people are thinking! I was thinking of just removing the power antenna relay. Is the plug easier to access?

Re: ‘84 Trans Am Electrical Issues

what people are thinking!
Usually, they aren't. There's some lower autonomous nervous system function that's mostly what's going on. About on a par with making the stomach digest and the colon expel waste.

The plug plugs into the relay. So, about the same.

Thank you sofakingdom! I unplugged the antenna relay and reinstalled the CTSY fuse and voila! The radio, power door locks and power mirrors are all now working. I appreciate your help again!
