The radio display stays illuminated when the car is off

I recently noticed this. Is this normal? My battery doesn’t seem to be affected.

Not normal.

Sounds like it's had some optional owner-installed wiring "improvements". Like, something is connected to battery, instead of to the accessory feed.

Didn't say anything about "accessories".

I said "wiring".

After all, there's no way for power to get to the radio when the ign sw is turned off, except for it to still be connected to battery. A kinda basic property of wiring.

Re: The radio display stays illuminated when the car is off

Is this connected and/or wired properly? Sounds like the orange wire might be connected to the wrong side from the radio. The connectors only connect one way, so maybe the wires somehow got reversed, or the connectors have been forced to plug backwards (if that's even possible), or the orange was used because the brown wire might be cut or missing?
