Help to ID a mysterious connector in the center console

1989 Camaro, originally V6 T5. I'm trying to undo the hatch pulldown delete done by previous owner(s) and I'm struggling to find a connector for hatch release switch. The only connector I have in the center console is this and it doesn't seem it’s for hatch release and I have no clue what it's for. Search didn’t give any clues. Any ideas are appreciated!

Off hand I do not recall what that connector may have been used for, but those wire colors are for a dome/courtesy light circuit.

The remote hatch release was optional and not part of the standard power pull-down latch.

Thank you! Didn't know that. I was confused because I have all the wiring in the back, incl. connector for the release solenoid. It seems that some new wiring needs to be fabricated...

The analog clock that mounted on the console in early camaros used that connector. It may just be a leftover since that option was nul by the time your car was built.

Oh yeah, that's right. Out of curiosity's sake, I'm gonna have to look at a diagram. Black is obviously ground. Orange is constant 12v. But white is typically door jamb switch. Or is it a gray wire in the picture?

White IIRC, its for the two lights in the clock. Works off the gauge lighting

Re: Help to ID a mysterious connector in the center console

Solved the "mystery". Traced the wires and:
1. Black goes to hatch release solenoid connector.
2. Orange is 12V from ACC fuse.
3. The middle one with the stripe is connected to the handbrake switch.

To me it seems that my base model received partial wiring and some wiring (from this connector to the hatch release relay and release switch) is missing. As 86blackiroc pointed out, probably my car came without remote release because hatch release assembly (or what is left of it) doesn't have release solenoid, only manual release. I cannot confirm because the central console is replaced by previous owner(s) and thus RPO codes are gone.

From service manual, it seems that this connector is coded C241: it has black, orange and tan/wht wires. I'll try to find the type of this connector to buy male connector for this plug.

Thank you for your help and time!

You just jostled my memory. Is your car a manual trans? Nearly 20 years ago, I manual swapped one of my 86's. I remember having to do some rewiring on the hatch release switch so that the brake lever had to be pulled for the hatch release to operate. That's all I remember though, lol.

You are correct, it's a manual.

In case someone will be in the same situation, here are the links to the connectors:

* 12020397 - Delphi Metri-Pack 280 3 Way Black Unsealed Female Connector: https://www.customconnectorkits.com/...cowNFmPiI2A66y
