wire from engine bay running under the car?

wire from engine bay running under the car?
i had the maro jacked up the other day and i noticed this wire running under the car.. it looked like it was a green and a tan wire and the green wire was cut.. it hangs down lower than the car.. what does these woires do?!? are they important?

Under which section of the car? Engine bay? Tranny area? Rear?
Tan and green run the headlights; tan goes to the oil pressure sending unit; green to the temp sending unit; green to the horn(s); green and blue to the backup switch on a manual tranny...

as best as i can tell it runs from the engine compartment to the rear end.. kinda following the driveline.. backup switch on manual tranny sounds like the closest thing it could be, except i have an automatic tranny.. oh well.. ill evenually find out what it does..

Could it be a manual switch for the fuel pump? I just bought an 89' bird, w/ a viper alarm (what a joke) and it had something like you described.
