VSS Help

My speedometer/odometer hasn't been working for a while now, so i'm trying to trouble shoot the problem. I have a 92 RS with the 3.1 V6 and as i understand it there is just the vss at the transmission, the ECM, or the speedometer itself that could be causing the problem. I think that the VSS buffer for this year/model is part of the ECM so if thats the problem its staying broken. Does anyone know of a way to test the VSS while its on the vehicle to test if its working? Does it send some kind of electrical signal that i might be able to test with a multimeter? Also, because i'm clueless here where is the vss located on the tranny? any help would be appreciated.

VSS on the tranny is located where the cable would of been. Look for an electrical connection back on the tailhousing ont he drivers side.

If the speedo and odometer are both on the blink then you need
to replace the VSS on the tranny.
