Forgive my ignorance but what would need to be done to put the 9-bolt posi in the stock rearend?

 

Theres a tech article on 9 bolts. Unless you're experienced with rear-end work I would recommend taking it somewhere because of the shimming and what-not.

I forgot to mention that the gears and carrier will come with a complete install kit that includes new bearings, new shims, new gasket, and nuts and bolts. The install kit alone sells for $130 from Ratech.

how were the gears when you took them out? how many miles were on them?

 

I'm assuming you mean for the 9 bolt. I bought the gears and posi for my old car and never got around to installing them before the car was sold, so unfortunately I have no idea how many miles are actually on them. In the pictures you can see that there aren't any chips or broken teeth.

The carrier is now sold. install kit is now sold as well.
