Hey I'm in Northern Ky also, I just started looking into tpi, would this setup fit on a 92, 305?

 

Depending on the block if its a 92 Im not sure.. I think this model only fits pre-88 year chevys. Unless you have a swaped motor. Also is yours a vortec that might be different to. let me know what you have

 

engine looks like a stock 305 engine with tbi - car looks like a z28 but I'm pretty sure it isn't because I can't think of why someone would swap out the tpi for tbi

 

well most 91-92 camaros came with TBI. the TPI only lasted a few years. but if you would like i will meet you somewere when your ready for purchase. I live 5 minutes from bellevue...

 

I gotta try to get more info on whether this is compatible, I'll let you know if I find out that it will work.

 

well i just looked it up. And from what i can see is the only difference would be if it was VORTEC. and since its an RS then i highly doubt that it is a vortec. So it will fit

 

What does VORTEC refer to? I have heard of vortec engines in chevy blazers, but not camaro's. Am i thinking of something totally different?
Also I have read a little and it seems that the intake on an 85 and a 92 were different, something to do with the bolt locations? Have you ever heard of this?
Sorry I'm asking all these questions I just don't want to spend the money on a part that will need modified to fit.

 

Look at the intake bolts and see if they're all at the same angle. The 4 corner bolts area at a 45degree angle and the 2 center bolts on each side are at a 90 degree angle or straight up. or send me a picture of it ill tell ya.

 

this will work for all blocks even your vortec. I will show ya pics of the procedure only take 5 minutes. let me know tonight. i pm'd you my number

Just to clear a few things up. A tpi setup will NOT bolt to vortec heads unless you buy the correct base. As far as what vortec refers to: vortec is GM's name for its line of truck engines which starting in the mid 90's. Some people swap to vortec heads as they are great flowing heads for factory castings and can be had fairly cheap, they require a special intake however. Vortec engines or heads never came factory on ANY car let alone a 3rd gen f-body. You are right TPI was only available a few years, those years are 1985-1992 as far as f-bodies are concerned. Your TPI setup will fit his 92 but he will need to reangle a few bolt holes with a drill in the base intake, not that hard.

 

Thanks for clearing that up i knew it bolted up but i completely forgot about the VORTEC being different.
