Feeler thread: AFR 195's 58cc

I'm debating whether or not to sell my current heads. You can check out the build sheet below. They are AFR 58cc 195 street heads. I have upgraded the springs to Comp cams 987 and Titanium retainers. The reason why I'm considering selling these is I'm toying with the idea to get a supercharger and would want to get heads with a higher CC, probably in the mid 70's. They are still on the car, and will probably stay there until I get a serious offer. I'll start the price at
$1100
and see what kind of offers I get. Any questions or anything feel free to ask on here or PM.

Thanks,

Brent

Couple of questions: How many miles on the heads? How long have you had them? Do the RR's come w/ them?

Re: Feeler thread: AFR 195's 58cc

I have less than 500 miles on them. I bought them a while back, fall 06 I believe? The car kinda sat for some time while I worked on other things. Ran it a bit last summer. No, the roller rockers do not come with them.

Thanks,
Brent

I'm willing to negotiate. Anyone need some killer heads?

Thanks

Re: Feeler thread: AFR 195's 58cc

I just had to do the same thing going to a single turbo. Got the new eliminator series that put up a whippin on the old heads with better hardware new light weight stuff, larger intake valve ,and flow like the old 210s for 1440 shipped to my door. I had to get a 75cc chamber to lower my comp to 9.2 from the 11 and change it was. I went from stock ported 113s to them sucks you have a good set already to give up. I would look at having a shop open up the chambers and save a bunch of money. Wouldnt take much to get you to 75ccs again. I have done it in the past to afr heads. So much meat to work with. Just need to cc to be accurate on all of them.

Maybe, I'll think about it. 58 to 75 cc is quite a jump. Plus finding someone that knows how to open them up CORRECTLY might be a bit of a challenge. Combustion chamber design is critical.

Re: Feeler thread: AFR 195's 58cc

my stock l98 heads were done to change that shape and it didnt make a dif at all on the dyno or what I ran for timing. Very easy on a afr just fopllow the shape. Any good head porter will open up the chambers to unshroud the valves and that alone easily adds 4 ccs with just around the valves. I worked in a machine shop for a while side by side with a pro head porter that had worked for wheeler and champion heads and did it with him on a bunch of sets. A bunch of big block chevy stuff to get better than 30cc more to drop compression. It does need to be measured though. Think about it they went from 75 to 58 already with your head by just angle milling it. If it took alot the gemoetry would be all out of wack if it took a bunch. so going back by opening the chamber isnt that bad. They get a .5 a point with a head gasket change. Steel shim to regular. It is easily done if you cant move them. But like I said the new eliminator heads are way better so might benifit you to sell and get the others.
