I am selling my vortec heads, which are already machined for more than enough lift from a modified camshaft (.600") and include new comp valve springs, screw-in arp studs, valve job, 10 degree keepers, etc. These are ready to install. All you need are the rocker arms. A reputable machine shop in Mesa did the work. They are called MHP machine.

$599.00 including shipping The machinework, valve job, etc. cost me over $800.00

Re: FS: Vortec Heads
Shipping should only be less than $80. I shipped complete L98 heads that weighed 111 lbs for like $76. Vortecs weigh close to 45 lbs a piece complete. I thought we were sopposed to help out fellow thirdgenner's, not try and make em even more broke than they are. . . Even though I dont think anyone took this add serious.

Re: FS: Vortec Heads
OK, sorry guys....I am new here, and all I know is the machinework cost me nearly $900.00.
I thought $975.00 was a good buy, but I guess I am wrong.
I am not trying to screw anyone over.
What would be a fair asking price for these heads?

Re: FS: Vortec Heads
I am sorry to hear man, but you are going to lose big time. I cannot imagine what costs $900.
I paid $225 for my set of vortecs complete. I then added about $200 in hard parts, valve locks, retainer, screw-in stud, guide plates, valve springs. It was then about another $200 to have all of this installed and the heads decked.
Scoggin Dickey charges $999 for a brand new set of Vortecs, already machined, complete, and with an intake manifold.
so maybe, half of hwat your asking is a good starting point, maybe little bi tmore cause there are always people making their own offers. . .
good luck

Ditto to the above. I paid 200 on here for them shipped completely rebuilt. I added screw in studs myself and comp beehive springs and all new hardware for about another 250. I personally would prob start it off around 500 bucks.

Re: FS: Vortec Heads
better
but still expect this to be a big lose. I still cant believe a shop could rape someon that bad. And with Vortec heads it is better to NOT have a 'valvejob' done. If not EXPERT, if can mess up the flow pattern durastically. GM's design of the valve cut was incredible and is better left stock.

Yeah...they are nice heads, though. $599.00 loses me $650.00.

Re: FS: Vortec Heads
I've spoken to Tim a number of times and he seems a very nice and well meaning guy. Unfortunately, he has my money and after assuring me that this very thing wouldn't happen, I still have no product. It's frustrating...

Of course I remember!! I thoroughly enjoyed talking with you...
To be honest, between work and moving I haven't opened the box! I've been meaning to let you know everything is cool and I'm sure the cam is as you promised but it's still in the box

Re: FS: Vortec Heads
Okay, I guess I spoke too soon. After posting that the shipment had arrived, I opened the box and found this... Turns out that Timmy just changed his phone number so I contacted UPS to find out if there was any insurance and was told the standard $100 is it.
This sucks.

Wow that sucks. You have to find a way to get a hold of him. He completely ripped you off and he knows it!!! Thats why I always think twice before I buy from someone and not from a store
