Parting out 1985 Trans Am

Lots of parts for sale. I've got a complete 1985 TPI Trans Am that needs to be parted out minus a few things. No carpet, door panels, or windshield. No hood or nose piece. The ECU is already gone as well. Other than that its all there. Let me know what you need.

Parts of interest:

Rear hatch -complete, no rust -$SOLD/Gone
Flat spoiler -Excellent shape, needs paint. -$SOLD/Gone
Rear bumper cover -great shape $SOLD/Gone
Driver side front fender (small dent, could be popped out, possibly filled) $SOLD/Gone
Driver and passenger side doors. Some minor dings, but repairable $SOLD/Gone
85 TPI intake manifold, 85 TPI plenum, runners, throttle body, wiring harness, injectors, fuel rails (complete minus ECM) $SOLD/Gone
1984 Recaro seats. Two tone light/dark gray $250 delivered anywhere in DFW
700R4 transmission (Shifts good, supposedly has a shift kit installed. I have not verified this.) $SOLD/Gone
Disk proportioning valve $SOLD/Gone
Complete Instrument Cluster with "Rare" 160MPH speedo. Just kidding, its that dealer installed Corvette Speedo. It matches the dash font somewhat well, but it is indeed different. It supposedly accepts both mechanical and electronic signaling. -$SOLD/Gone
Dash bezel for analog instrument cluster. -$20
HVAC controls $15
Plain T-handle shift ****. Decent shape. This was pulled from a 1987 base model Firebird. -$10.00
Drive shaft. Stock, steel $SOLD/Gone
Overhead console. Decent shape, no dome light cover -$20.00
Misc trim available. Let me know what you need. I may or may not have what your looking for.

I'd prefer local pickup on these items, however I will ship items that do not have to go via truck freight upon request for actual shipping cost.

Last edited by 87WS6; Apr 30, 2010 at 01:55 PM. Reason: Most everything has been sold excluding a few miscellaneous trim pieces.

I don't think I can part with those now that I think about it. I have to be able to roll this piece of junk onto a trailer to get rid of it.

You can. The auto shifter is in good order, the boot is not in good shape.

I am in the Dallas area. Basically the sail panels and cargo area plastics are all that really remain in good shape. The dash pad, the door sills, the rearmost cargo piece are all worthless. The sail panel/cargo area plastics are actually in good shape but do show sunfading. They'd need to be painted to look nice.

It would. It does however have the Trans Am fender vent and ground effects holes as it was pulled from a 1985 Trans Am. You can of course fill in the holes for the ground effects, but the fender vent could be an issue unless that's what you are looking for.

Re: Parting out 1985 Trans Am

I'm not really sure. Recaro seats are hard to come by, but beyond that it seems that everything but the crappy "deluxe" seats for these cars are expensive. Have you ever seen how much PMD's or Recaros CAN go for even in terrible condition? I've seen people pay three times as much for 3 times worse.

I think the Recaros here are priced fairly. If I'm off base someone please correct me, but for now the pricing stays where its at.

Re: Parting out 1985 Trans Am

I know seats are expensive. I'm not saying you are outrageous I'm just saying seats in general they are way over priced. It doesn't make any sense to me. You can buy a small block for half the price of the seats in the car.

Yeah, I'm not happy about that either. Especially since most of these seats need to be recovered and or re-stuffed.

Well you don't sit on the engine block, you sit on seats. Thus you have to pay for comfort.
I've seen people ask and get $800 plus for Recaro's in terrible shape.

My Recaros aren't perfect but they are in better shape than 90% of them I've seen out there for sale.

Re: Parting out 1985 Trans Am

I am in need of the upper fan shroud/radiator support---I hope it is the one with the hose support on the right/driver's side, as this is the one that is long enough to match the bolt holes in my front clip. Thanks.

The only one I have is currently in use. At least until I replace it with a TKO 600 or a T56.
