The fear of damage to my car, myself or others with tires from 1989...
I got 10 year old ties on my car now, probably 500 miles on them around town, always stored inside and I'm replacing them in a few weeks cuz I gotta take the car on the interstate for a 4 hour round trip...

 

+1 I don't care how they were stored 20+ tires do not belong on a car seeing any time on the streets...

 

Guys...they're not for street use anymore! If you are a period-correct type of guy that trailers his car around, they're exactly what you need. Where else would you find em when nobody makes reproductions? Scrub em up and bolt em on with your restored rims.

 

The thought of having a car that I don't drive is sickening. unless it's a race only car.

 

I paid less than half that for my set & didn't have to ship them. In all honesty they will only go on a rare car if I go to sell it. I'm more interested in driving or racing my cars than "showing" them, so they are of little use really.

 

my exact thought. These people are ridiculous.

 

What you do is put the tires on a set of rims just for shows and have a spare set of rims and tires for when you want to drive.
People do it all the time.
