All star 3.73 gears for 10bolt 3.08 and under carrier and a 28spline mini spool all new never used just been sitting in the garage for a while $125 shipped

Would this work in an 89 rs with 2.73 rear?

 

Matts86Cam I think 3.08 and smaller carriers are for smaller gear ratios. So 3.73 gears wouldn't fit the carrier he has or the one that you have. But if you picked up a carrier for the larger gear ratios and the other parts like carrier bearings and an install kit for the gears you should be good.

 

Most '89 Camaro and Firebirds have 26 spline axles

 

If he's correct in his description, yes, the gears will swap into a rear with 2.73's. Did that back in the day on my 86. Difference is in(if I recall correctly) the thickness of the ring gear. You should be fine.
