WTB 9 bolt rear w/3.45 gears complete
I'm looking for a complete (brakes, etc.) 9 bolt rear end w/3.45 gear ratio for my project car. From what I've researched they were put in 87, 88, 89 cars with the 305 TPI and 5 speed. I would prefer one from an 87. If anyone has one let me know, thanks.

Do the 9 bolt rear ends have any type of date(s) stamped on them? If they don't and yours is not out of an 87 I'm very interested. I could probably even pick it up if you don't want to ship it. I am assuming that everything is in proper working order?

Were you able to locate any date stampings?

Sorry for tardy response. In addition to the casting number, only nomenclature I could find is the number 731. Since this rear was removed from a new Camaro being converted in '89 into a race car, I'm thinking this unit is an '88 or '89. BTW, what is there about an '87 you don't like?

Actually, I would prefer one from an 87. I talked to someone at GM and they told me that there should be a metal plate or something stamped on the front of the right axle tube. This might be the casting number that you referred to. Could you get that information for me? Thanks.

I will be pulling my 9 bolt out of mine soon. It is exactly what you are looking for. 3.45:1. 87 Iroc. Let me know if you are still looking.

Re: WTB 9 bolt rear w/3.45 gears complete
If you are still looking for one, I have a 9-bolt from an 87 GTA that I need to get rid of. I'm selling for $100 obo, but I can't ship it. I'm in Phoenix, AZ if you are able to come get it. It would be a lot closer than New Jersey. This one has 3.27 gears, but the ring and pinion need to be replaced. They are worn beyond salvage, but the rest of the rear is good. If you know how to set gears in these, this would not be a bad deal for you. You can get the new (used) gears from a link if you go from this site's home page and click classifieds. There is a link to 9-bolt parts. I also have an extra cover for it.

Sorry, not interested at this point. I'm trying to put the car back to original and I would like to find one I can just bolt right in.
