WTB > TBI (CT)

Info: I was told the 350 tbi is bigger and allows more air flow being sucked into the intake. Currently I have a 305 tbi (in my 1989 camaro rs) So if i'm wrong from what I heard; would anyone correct me please?

Looking To Buy:
350 TBI (my year or something that would fit)

regards,
Timinsk

Re: WTB > TBI (CT)

go to a junk yard
buy one off a 350
buy the rebuild kit for $22
then do the ultamite TBI mods
https://www.thirdgen.org/ultimatetbi
https://www.thirdgen.org/ultimatetbi2

only thing different is youll need a tps pig tail and youll have to splice 3 wires
you also might lose cruise control

Should I look for my same car for the 350? or does it not matter?

Re: WTB > TBI (CT)

Anybody know the numbers for the 350 TBI injectors? I have about a dozen of them (throttle bodies) from 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 engines...but not sure which is which anymore. Can give you a deal after matching up the linkage arm patterns..the wiring is the same for all of them.

Timinsk:

FYI only, I have the "same motor" in my 1988 Chevy 1/2 ton 2WD pickup w/5sp manual. Got the motor out of a 1989 IROC Camaro with auto TBI (low mileage car with rusted towers). Engine was very clean inside, mic'd within specs so I just installed new rings, bearing and oil pump.

The engine runs great, great compression and is very dependable..BUT NO POWER OR SNAP! Installed a 350 throttle body, 350 MEMCAL and it still is gutless. Running straight exhaust through a glass pack..zero exhaust restriction!

With the engine running noticed that the lift on all 16 lifters is minimal. I just bought a 305 HO (roller) cam for it..which is computer compatible..but didn't put it in yet.

I'm sure it's the heads/cam combination...the cam is the easiest fix for now. There is a good deal on a 305 comp cam for sale in the engine parts for sale section right now.

Wouldn't waste time changing the throttle body without a better cam, air filter and exhaust...didn't do a thing for me.

the 4.3 and 5.0 are 40lb injecters
5.7 are 50 lb injecters
http://tbichips.com/305mods.htm

i think the 350 truck injectors are different then car injectors

Re: WTB > TBI (CT)

I would check the injector numbers for comparison first...really doubt that there is any significant (if any) difference between a car/truck 350 TB. I tried various car/truck TB combinations with virtually no performace changes. I bet if you check the lift on your cam..you will learn that it is minimal..throw in bad flow heads...you'll need more than extra raw fuel.

Thats what my ideal goal is now; just get the injectors and try some of the guides, and what kind of spacer would be recommended? I'm looking into open air element.
