OEM Rear Drum Spacers

Im looking for a set of OEM rear wheel drum spacers that came on many of the Camaros and Trans Ams. When i bought my TA, I only had 1 on the driver side. I would like a set now and cant seem to find them new. Let me know if you have a set and price with shipping to 49331. Thanks!!

Re: OEM Rear Drum Spacers

I got a set a couple years ago from Modern Day Muscle, brand new & still in the OEM heat shrunk wrap. I just put them on a few months ago....Because I had them & wanted the extra little for my 315s to fit. Looks like I didn't need the room, but I'm too lazy to jack up my GTA & take them off!

Maybe MDM still have some?

Re: OEM Rear Drum Spacers

thanks for the info stephen. I always look forward to your advise lol. Ill check into MDM. I work at a Gm dealership and like many parts for these car GM has discontinued them. Do you remember how much they ran you? I dont want to buy aftermarket spacers as I always hear about wheels fallin off and whatnot. Would it be possible to run 2 sets of the same spacer or is that a risky chance of failure?

Re: OEM Rear Drum Spacers

Sorry, I don't recall the price on them..

I'd be a little concerned about the amount of threads left to engage in a lug nut,if you ran 2 spacers. Longer lug studs? Too long/too far out & I'd go with bolt-on adapters. Actually *I* wouldn't do it at all. I know lots of people run Vette wheels with the adapters and don't break, but I STILL won't.

You could always just go to your local CNC machine shop & ask them to make you some out of some (memory failing me here....) ?T6-6061? aluminum. Ask hin & they will KNOW the grade to use. Just tell them what its for. Could use steel, but why add more weight than you have to? I've thought about talking to my local favorite CNC shop, that I have random stuff done at, about making spacers or adapters, just to see what they'd charge me.

Ya i agree, I also know a few people running Vette wheels and I personally wont run them. A friend of mine brought his 87 GTA to the track and actually broke the aluminum adapter to his Vette wheels leaving the line the car launched so hard, but hes running a 350 TPI w/ Procharger.

Sorry, but I just LOVED hearing that! So much for all the"pro-adapter" people who say they are strong & present no breakage danger.....I just may hafta add that as a quote in my sig!

I've always said they may be strong enough for OEM power levels & use, but not on a well modified/racing use vehicle.

Glad i made your day haha. And the worst of it all, after it broke the wheel rolled off the track and into the side of another vehicle causing 3k in damage to passenger door and rear quarter. I believe the car was a 71 Cuda if I can remember correctly.

Re: OEM Rear Drum Spacers

Any damage sucks. Damaging a Cuda like that only makes it that much worse.

Yes, I was amused. But I also take little comfort in others suffering at the expense of my amusement, so don't get me wrong. Sorry it happened.

Oh its fine by me, I also was amused and till this day still give him grief about it as he was once one of those "pro adapter" guys and claimed they would never break. They company he bought them from claimed they would work on vehicles with engines with over 400+ hp and not break. But to their dismay, they were wrong.
