Heads/posi rear

I am looking for some PARTS/upgrades to my GTA. I have an 87 GTA 5.7, with headers, dynomax exhaust, aluminum drive shaft, 3.08 posi rear, stall converter.
I want to upgrade the heads. they are 5.0 heads. I am looking for a posi rear with 3.42 or 3.45.
So, I am interested in buying a set of heads and the rear.
I stated what I have so I can get some advise on which way I can go to upgrade. I would like the car to be streetable and run faster for occasional runs at the track.

I have a carrier that I believe will do what you are asking. 60$ plus shipping.

^ I also have a set of stock 305 Heads sitting on the shelf... but IMO not worth the value to ship.

Thanks for the offer for the heads, but how would be that be an upgrade? lol
Concerning the carrier, do you know what I am using and think it will change my gear ratio? what do you have?

Re: Heads/posi rear

I would have to do some research since I am not familiar with them. But, how much more flow and hp is possible from that head change with a new cam?

a poor mans upgrade (with a little porting) a 305 head adds compression ratio to the stock 350.

as for the carrier... you would need to put whatever gears on it that you want when it is being installed. I have no idea what youre running but the carrier is a positraction.

Re: Heads/posi rear

I am looking to add some hp, but would not waste time changing heads to the original equipment, thanks anyway. If I upgrade I want to notice a difference. The stock heads are not gonna do what the aftermarket heads will do. If they were free, I still wouldnt do it. lol And I have decided to look into a swap for the LS1 or 400 LS2, is it? I was told that spending 1500 on heads would do less than the new style LS1 engine. And I can sell the one that I have now. What do you guys think?

Re: Heads/posi rear

Yeah that is true but if you wanna stat cheap go steel or alum l98's and do some light port work or go vortex it will make a big difference over Those 305's. theose things don't flow
