Looks like mine has bitten the dust. I've gone through and everything points to dead ECM. I'm looking for a replacement: 88 trans am 5.0 TBI 700r4 trans. I just got the wiring harness done and I've checked my power, grounds, and fuses and still no go. Please let me know if you have a known working ecm for sale, hopefully I can afford it lol.

Re: ECM dead
Just wanted to say be careful, I believe 88 Trans Am was the first year for VATS security, and cannot just use any 88 TBI/Auto computer to my knowledge.

You may want to add to your request your existing part number and prom code which can be found on the side of the computer. Part number being 8 numbers long and prom code being 4 characters long.

Re: ECM dead
Not positive...but I'm pretty sure it has to match my current ecm. Don't think my prom is bad so that isn't the issue.

Bump. This seems to be a tricky ecm to find.

Re: ECM dead
So after contacting tuned performance I learned I can use ecm 1228746 with a flashed prom to disable vats. Anyone have any ideas how I can get my hands on a correctly flashed prom? I can find that ecm but I'm new to the whole chip scene.

Yes I've read the section on it and understand how it works, I just have no funds to get my own setup for just one chip.

Any thoughts?
