tips on a 350 rebuild please..
ok i have a 86 z28 305 5 speed and i am presently getting ready to build a 350 i have out of a 78 chevy truck.
i have a few questions one what cam shoudl i use
two how much power could it make.
three are my choices good ones.
the motor is a 350 with a .030 bore, i am planing on using flat top pistons and arp fasteners, using the stock heads but i am gonna port and pollish and do a valve job on them. a edelbrock performer eps manifold not sure what carb yet.
i want to beable to run atleast 6000 with out hurting the motor
any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

With a decent rebuild and the ARP fasteners, the bottom end should take 6000 RPMs with no problems whatsoever. Getting to 6000 RPMs is dependant upon cam and intake choice, though.
Those heads are going to be your weak point. You'd be better served getting some aftermarket replacement heads and porting them. It'll be an extra $700, but the difference will be substantial. Valve springs also an important factor for your RPMs (get them to match the cam, whatever you get).
You do know you'll need a different flywheel than what you've got - a two-piece rear main seal type. If you get one for an '82-'85 3rd gen, that'll do.
