Can I call my LT1 an LT4 if I get the LT4 heads, intake, and LT4 Hot Cam?

Can I call my LT1 an LT4 if I get the LT4 heads, intake, and LT4 Hot Cam?

Just wondering since I may be getting the heads and intake and I would like to put LT4 in my sig instead of LT1. After I put these parts on, there are only 2 things different between my motor and a regular LT4, the fuel rail w/ injectors and timing set.

So, will I have enough LT4 parts to call it an LT4?

Later,

its your car, so you can call it whatever you want, but in reality, since the code on the block says its an lt1, its still an lt1. Not a big deal in my opinion though. I'd call it an lt4 too. I have a friend who calls his ford 400 a SPOON(spelling?)engine. He welded a spoon to his air cleaner.

Ps. a SPOON engine is a realy fast import engine i think, at least thats what my friends told me...

Well, yeah. Its an LT-4 now. And I believe in 97 when those came out in Camaro's/Firebirds (year is questionable), one of the car mags put the GM carb intake on with a 750 Holley, and ended up with 469hp. I'd deffinetly take one then.

Actaully it would be more than a LT4, the 'HOT' cam is not the factory LT4 cam. The factory LT4s were duration: 203/210 lift: .476/.480.

Zepher,
You know, when I first saw your car, and the questions you asked, and the topics you pondered, you reminded me of me a few years ago. Never wanting to stop, always going for more. And now I don't like you! You remind me of a guy I knew who would pick up a car for $150, and sell it the same night for $700 and not even try. He came across some of the most amazing deals ever. And to boot, you have women (that you surely pay) who lay all over your car just for pictures. Really, I do still like you, and hope your LT-4 project goes well. I want times when it is done.

Well, I want to stop eventually, I just keep hitting small hurdles alnog the way. I didn't want to get an LT1 this soon. I just finished my TPI swap and wanted to use that for at least 6-8 months while building a 350. But when my 305 died, I found this LT1 pretty cheap, for $1000. Sold my TPI for $500, sold some of the LT1 parts that I am not using for $200, sold my 305 heads for $50 and a few other things, so I basically got the LT1 for nothing.

In 2 years, I should be totally finshed with my car, it will be quick, and painted and be a very nice sports car.

If I only had some more extra money, I'd be done faster, but being poor makes the project drag on and on and on.

Oh, I haven't forgotten about the Module, it is on my "Parts to Buy" list.

And get yourself an LT4 timing chain, and LT4 EGR block offs . LT1 guys constantly call their LT1s LT4s when they switch to an LT4 heads and intake. That's what the meat of the LT4 is anyway.
It's been a month dude, your car isn't running yet? This should be a note to all LT1 swappers, you just can't do an LT1 swap in a weekend unless you have LOTS of money, and LOTS of time. Ain't that right Zepher? You should be learning the concept of nickel and dime right now, hehe.

Yep, need lots of money and time. All the small parts are adding up quick. I have a list of parts I need and I am buying them as cash comes in.
But it will be worth it when it's done, hopefully.
