LT5 Anyone?

Does anyone know if this will fit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1830587092

Sure would make a good conversation piece at least

Will the ZF6 fit without a major headache?

Just Curious

anyone ahve anymore info on that engine?ive never heard of it.WHy does it have 16 runners?altho im sure its fast, for quad cam and 32 valves 375 horses seems kind like a low HP number.Sweet looking thing.

Dont let that low HP figure fool you. That motor is significantly rare....it was placed in ZR-1 corvettes, and i believe that they usually ran between $50k and $65k(?)in price. They were the top of the line corvettes, and only a certain number were made. What makes the engine so rare is that it was made by Lotus, and in reality, i believe it was a marine motor....not 100% on that. Like i said earlier, dont be fooled by the hp figure....tuners like John Lingenfelter have taken that motor, and easily doubled that 375 hp figure-all naturally aspirated. Of course, since the motor is so rare, it costs a small fortune to work on...and i believe GM has also stopped making parts for it. But hey, if you can afford to take your thirdgen, and invest 50 grand into it to put that motor in it, keep it running, make mods to it, then deifnetly go for it.

It was designed by a Lotus when it was owned by GM and built by Mercury Marine for GM.16 runners, 1 runner for each intake valve. It had butterflys that would open at higher RPM to get all the intake runners working. Without those extra runners open, the car had 210HP. There was even a valet key that didn't let those extra butterflies open to MAKE SURE it was only 210HP. It has a bit smaller bore and longer stroke than traditional 350s, like how the LS1 and LS6 are. GM did test some LT5s in f-bodies to see how much power the f-body chassis could take. It can take a lot. The zf6 protrueds into the cabin and needs a special hump to hide it. SLP had these avalible for a while because the 3rgen Firehawks had that tranny. The later LT5s had 405 HP. They were planning on boosting it to 450HP but the LT1s were such a bargin in comparison, the zr1 got the axe.

Tas...

Thanks for clearing up the Lotus aspect of it. I knew it had to do something with them, but i forgot what exactly. I do know about they key turning, and how it cut the hp down if you didnt have the key turned fully. But yea, those engines were amazing. Capable of 600 hp naturally aspriated easily...just a few tweaks and you got it. Overall cost was the factor in building them..they were expensive, and they still are. Good luck to anyone who wants to put on into a 3rd gen.
