69 Camaro 302 in my 84 z-28

well im thinking
about building up a 302
i got just the block.. thinking of puting in low cop/pistons
and runng a blower or super. but i would like to know if its worth doing that to a 302 if so can any one tell me what i would need for a good build up?
i never built a engine for a blower or super chg before

You don't need a blower. Just build that engine up to '69 stock specs and you'll be pleasantly suprised. Then you'll have an '84 5.0 HO the way Chevy should have made it.

if you have a dz or cna casting sell it to someone that needs it for a 1st gen z/28 and then do what ever you want with the money. if all you have is a block there isn't anything really special about it over any other LJ 4 bolt 350 block.

I thought a 302 was a 327 block with a short stroke. Still a 4 in. bore, but with smaller main journals. BTW. I think you should do whatever makes you the most happy, because you're going to be the one driving it.

Here's the deal.

67: 327 block (2-bolt mains) with a 283 crank.
68-69: 350 block (4-bolt mains) with stand-alone large journal 3-inch stroke crank.

67 was small journal, 68-69 large.

I agree with Ed. The only thing "special" about this block is the numbers. Therefore, it is valuable to a collector looking for numbers matching, but for performance, it's just another 4" bore SBC block. If it really is an original 302 block, the price it would bring in Hemmings would finance a pretty good engine build.
