Will this setup work for me?

I have another post that I made, but just wanted more input. I didn't know how many of the main motor swap people made it into the TBI forum.

Anyway, I was hoping for around 350hp from this. Don't know if it will happen though. It definately wont be 350 rwhp.

Let me know what you think.

I doubt you'll make 350 hp at 5200 RPMs with a 327. Possible, I suppose.

But, why spend $200 on a 327 block? I saw a 350 builder for $75 at the Super Chevy swap meet yesterday. The extra 24 cubes (assuming each is .030" over) will make approximately 24 extra horses. Save the extra $125 for something else.

One thing you didn't mention was self-aligning rockers. If you used your current rockers, that would be okay, but if buying new, don't forget that detail.

I'm not in the Vortec-loving camp, so you can take the rest of this for what it's worth. Don't believe this "drilled for normal pattern" stuff (it's the heads that are drilled, not the manifold). The ports are relocated, so even if you could bolt on a "regular" manifold, it wouldn't be right. And, some "regular" manifolds don't have enough meet to even seal the ports.

The Vortecs have press-in rocker studs, also known as "pull-out" rocker studs, so consider getting them machined for the screw-in. The springs that come with the heads are junk, so ditch them. And, the Vortecs don't have the exhaust cross-over passage for the EGR.

I'd opt for S/R Torquer heads on either a 327 or 350, which don't require a special manifold or rockers; have good valves, springs, and screw-in rocker studs as-delivered; and have the exhaust cross-over passage. But, that's just me.

I had already heard that using the Vortec heads with regular intakes was a bad idea since the ports then don't match up very well.
I know there will be no EGR, so I think I am just going to figure out a way around it. I know there are a few guys on the boards that have made chips to get around it, or else, I have heard that I can use a Ford EGR that goes on after the TBI and I weld a tube to a header or something like that.
Anyway, I guess I could machine the heads for the screw-in studs. What are the regular LO3 heads? Are they push-in, or the screw-in?
Oh, I don't know where you live, but around here, 350s are snatched up pretty quickly and not that cheap. There are a lot of circle track guys and hotrodders. I had to jump on this 327...the first day it was advertised, 9 people had called about it. Guess they didn't want it because it wasn't the high performance Camaro version. But, I was planning on getting all new stuff for it, so I didn't care too much.
