Anybody done this???

Put a pre 86 block in a 87 or later camaro. To be more specific Im wonder the exact problems I could look to run into when putting a 79 block 305 in my 89. I know the dip stick is on the other side. Thanx guys.

The only part i changed that had to do with swapping in an older block was the flexplate.Mine is an 80 model 4bolt block that I put into my 91.

Dam RSpeed. You need to sell your car so you can have a shorter sig.

Ok, So its not as bad as it was made out to be then. I might as well switch to carb since my TBI is shot anyways. Vortec Heads are sounding good to. Im going to check the specs of my cam in the next week or two. What exactly is the flexplate?? Ive only heard of it.

Dear SlowStang

I had an 88 tbi now me and my buddies converted it to a carb as well. We used the block from an 84 HO. We had to change the flexplate because of th e84 had an auto and we needed a 5 speed. I think it has to do with the amount of teeth on the flywheel. Dont hold me to that. Other than that ...I cant think of any thing we changed. If you have a questions.. let me know..
Ill help as much as i can..

Thought of something else.. When we changed over we had to get a different distributer.. one with a coil pack on top of it. You will have to we wire this to make it work. A flexplate I am almost positive is another word for a flywheel..
