LT1 DASH wiring harness
LT1 DASH wiring harness
I found a really cheap in dash wiring harness, its from a 1995 Caprice, I am droping a Impala SS 5.7L LT1 but the dash harness of the Caprice is from a 4.3L LT1 the "little" LT1, my question is would the harness still be the same, and would it work with my 5.7L motor? All help is greatly apperciated.

are you doing an entire interior swap too or something? what harness are you talking about....there isnt really any specific harness for the guages or anything, its just a couple of wire splices and you're done as far as the dash goes.
No I am not doing an interior swap. But what your saying makes more sense. I was told that it would make the swap a lot easier if I had the in dash harness. How many wires need to be spliced? I was planning on getting all aftermarket gauges anyways. But what about the ignition? Isen't that a pain to splice all those wires?
ok, the only wires you have to splice are Oil pressure, coolant temp, and tach. the two sensor wires can be sliced in anywhere on between the sensor and the computer. On the ignition coil, there is a large pink wire, splice into that for the tach. as far as the ignition, if you are thinking about having to splice wires coming off of the key cylinder, you dont have too, all of that is wired into the car, has nothing to do with the computer. If you are keeping VATS, or if you even have it, you will have to get the new VATS module or get an aftermarket harness to bypass it.
To bypass the Vats system I bought Painless's LT1 VATS Bypass Module. Its a little black box that hooks up to the computer to disable the vats. One more question you say: "the two sensor wires can be sliced in anywhere on between the sensor and the computer" which two sensors are you talking about, mybe I am reading it wrong, are you talking about the Oil Pressure and Coolant temp sensors? Thanks so much for your time!
yes I am, sorry about that, I wasnt real clear. I wish I would have used that Painless VATS bypass, but we decided to try and keep it. it worker for a while, but then one day something went haywire and we had to bypass it. got a question for you. what transmission you going to use?

I used the stock fuel lines on the car, and the engine came with part of the stock plastic lines used on the 4th gen, and we just spliced them together. I think it is about 1/4" to 5/16", not real sure, we never measured it.
