did my 350 swap

So I had a 350 crate motor sittin in my garage and I finally got to swap it with my carbed 305 thanksgiving break. It took only 2 days for me and my buddy to do it but its not done yet. The 350 is in with the old tranny hooked up (700r4), but everything else still needs to be hooked up such as the hoses and wires and ****. But it was pretty easy because I went carb to carb, and my car is an 83 so no computer **** to worry about. I got pics if anyone wants to see them. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask. Lata.

Thats great buddy. Gorgeous motor, great pics too. Did you take notes on your swap? The reason I ask is that everybody and their brother wants to know about swapping a 350 into our cars. Nobody really bothers to do a search. But if maybe you wrote a tech article or something..... Or maybe im talkin outta my *** too. Whatever, congratulations one way or another.

Nah I wasn't able to take any notes on my swap but its really not hard to remember. The only things I should have labeled and payed more attention to were my starter wires and the certain wires going into the distributer for the rpms and all that stuff. Otherwise is was cake. Thanks for the compliments

Beautiful man. Now how bout you try what i have to do and tell me how. Ripped the v-6 out of the '82 i bought from my buddy when we were drunk....BAD IDEA...wires everywhere, no labels no nuthing, cut hoses. very stupid. Anyway... yours looks good, after seeing it I can hardly wait. Anybody have any helpful info, links, pics either post or email me at dilbert_22@hotmail.com.

Looks exactly like when I did my swap. I went from a 305 to 350 in a barn with a crate motor as well . My name also happens to be Jon.
Looks really good.

ROFLMAO!!!! I did take notes and I do have a tech article for doing the swap, only problem is that Dirk hasn't updated it and every time he does he forgets about my article. I had a website up but then pop-up adds became a problem and I hated it so I took it down. I'll have one up and running again soon enough.
The starter wires were EXACTLY my problem too! I didn't pay attention to them and when the car wouldn't turn over you can guess I was pissed. The real problem was not that I didn't pay attention to it, it was that my friend took em off without asking or telling me. I then let him put it back, 2 days after he left I went under and switched them around and it started right up. That was the last time I ever let him touch the car.

Yeah i hope it all goes well once i finish it which will be next week hopefully. Yeah my buddy who helped me is Jon, he knew more than me so I was lucky he helped but i also learned a lot so im happy. The one worry is my trans. Its just a stock 700r4 with about 80k on it. But it never slipped or anything with the 305. If it starts having problems I'll rebuild it, otherwise im just gonan see how it goes. Hopefully it doesnt drop out of the car when it shifts into second hard the first time. That would suck.
