OK Heres the story in a nutshell
I have an 88 IROC 305 TPI . . a few months ago Motor siezed on me for no reason and with no warning. I had been planning on installing a 350 so seen this as the perfect reason to get it done although the timing could have been better. Due to time constraints and space I couldnt do it myself and had to have a (reliable) shop do it for me. well I decided to go with the ZZ4 short block and the Mechanic that is doin the work persuaded me to use the 305's heads. He has worked the heads as far as Porting and Polishing done some grinding to match them to the gasket also swapped out the Valves and installed hardened seats.
he has had a custom ground cam worked with a longer duration ( I dont know the exact specs yet) he insist that this will help keep the motor breathing while also keepin it with the CA smog law spec's We ordered the Hearders yesterday also smog legal. And he says should be done by next friday.
My question to the board is
He wanted to know if I want to go with the 305's top end
the TPI Plenum, Runners and Injectors and Throttle body to which I said yes only because I need the car back on the road A.S.A.P.
and figured that I could do the swap at a later date
Now is this going to present any problems as far as idling or performance goes cuase I may not get around to swapping the top end til next spring and also if I am goin to swap the TPI for a larger one shouldnt I swap heads as well ?
Oh yes and we ordered the 4 core radiator and a hypertech programable chip which he says can make up for any breathing issues the engine may have due to keeping the 305's TPI etc.
Can anyone else think of somethin I may need to address before I get this thing back on the highways ?

Yeah it was REALLY strange the way it went out on me. I took the car out runnin thru a canyon for some fun and on the return trip I stopped and got some gas well between the gas station and the entrance to the canyon (about 6 miles) the car started actin funny. would idle but real rough. my first thought was Bad Gas, Clogged fuel filter, would run but rough thru the whole powerband. came out on the home side of the canyon and decided that I should head to the auto parts store and get some additive called (I think) Kleen Power its actually a Octane boost that can be run by itself as a fuel but burns R-E-A-L clean.
Well got a block away from Comet the auto parts store and the damn thing died. Was able to coast it into a parking lot and when I tried to turn it over nothing happened. starter would click but motor wouldnt turn. tried to spin it by hand and wouldnt budge.
Well I had just recently sold my house and bought another but made a SHWEET profit in doing so
I intended to use some of the money to get a ZZ4 crate and drop it in there. (actually was a toss up between the ZZ4 and the LS1)
but everyone recomended against the LS1 with the california smog laws. well with the move and all in progress I didnt have the time to do the swap myself or a place to do it as the garage was PACKED FULL. So I sent it out which was a NIGHTMARE in its own right and one I probably shouldnt go into here other than to say BUD ALLEN CHEVROLET BITES ! ! ! !

anyways went and seen the motor today and the SHWEET port and polish job. YEAHBABY ! ! ! also checked out the headers. Question will the Hotchkiss or SPOHN SFC's fit with the Heddeman Headers and Flowmaster exhaust ?
Lookin as if Friday may be driveable but he says NEXT TUESDAY for sure. Been without it since the first week in August

SHould add as well that I have prevfiously rebuilt the Transmission and went with the Centerforce II clutch, throwout bearing etc etc and also swapped out the 9 bolt for a 10 bolt with c clip eliminators, 3:42 gears and Posi with the performance disk brakes already on it. all this was done after it was stolen and recovered 4 days later.
I know someday somewhere I'm gonna run into the PUNKSASSBITCH that stole my car and see him flossin his Camaro with a part or 2 that I know came from mine and then CRACK
