Old 350 question

I was offered a 350 out of a 1983 chevy conversion van today, it's a rebuilt carbed 350 clocked at 275 HP, my question is would this kind of engine even work in my car. I don't know the transmission of the van and my car has a 700-r4 in it. Do you guy think the engine will match up with my transmission? I don't know where to look to find out.

might want to say what kind of car you have and what engine is in it, it'd really improve the quality of the answers you get.

bolt right up, the 60* v6s have differant bolt pattern for the trans, all SBCs have the same pattern so you'll have no problems there.

'83 would have a two-piece rear main seal, which uses a different flexplate than your '86 has. Just get a 153-tooth flexplate for '82-'85 3rd gen 305 application.

Could you use the flexplate from the original van or does it have to be one for a camaro?

If it's 153 tooth, you can use it.

I'm getting it for 150 bucks, it's from my friends dad, he had it professionally rebuilt. So it's like new I guess. I'm also looking into ceramic coated headers but don't know which one to get, I am on a pretty tight budget.
