I think it sounds great. I don't know very much about engines, but that sounds good! That sounds like what I'll be doing. I'm gettin' a new engine Sunday, and it's gonna be in my garage gettin' new parts whenever I get the money. Anyway, good luck!

Depends on the cam...

Get rid of the L03 exhaust, every piece, all the way from the heads to the street. The cat-back you have should be OK, now you need to get headers for some application other than the L03, such as for a 350 TPI. If you get L03 stuff you will be preserving the bottleneck in the system, namely the drinking-straw Y-pipe size.

Why are you taking out the perfectly good ZZ4 roller cam & lifters, and putting in a flat-tappet? That's a step backwards.

For a cam I'd reccomend the LT4 Hotcam. While you're in there you can do a basic port/polish job on the heads, and since you will have them apart, you could stuff some bigger valves in them and get a 3 angle valve job. You can also replace the distributor and intake if you want to squeeze every last pony out of it.

If you have money to blow have the heads chryogenically frozen, since they're aluminum they'll flex alot and that's not a good thing. Also have them heat treated, that will prevent heat from escaping the chamber and into the rest of the head by over 200% and improve your combustion, therefore giving you more power. But for $4,200 I would have expected more HP.
