PROM-Q :305 tpi bolted to a 350 engine ... PROM ?
Well Guys . I have been in search of a Prom for my engine for some time now.. I dont have a Prom Burner at my disposal. Heres what I have done..
1989 350 4 bolt main single piece rear main with KB pistons.
Dual pattern ZZ3 Cam grind ( custom Job)
72cc heads with single valve trench .039 quench
Stock TunedPortInj system.
24# SVO injectors @43psi
MSD IGN System TPI
AFPR
Ported PLenum
Hastings Total Seal Rings
Whats up ? Well IN 1989 they never made a 350 iwth a 5 speed tranny... So I cant get a chip for a 350 that will work as a base for my car.. the Automatics have different chips and to my knowledge would flag errors .. So what I need is a chip that will work with the above engine and not have errors.. Speed shops dont have the particular chip becuase its a rare combination to a 350 and mt5 ( due to strength limits)
The main problem is my spark tables... they are all advanced too much from the 305 prom.. I think I need Base spark to be around 0 degrees and -6 under load when its sitting around 6-8degrees and detonating..
Will a Chip from a 1989 6speed corvette work or will the computer run into errors with tranny/vats problems ? they both use a 7165 ECM just the chip programming is what I am concerned about..
What the heck would a guy do with a ZZ4 crate engine using the TPI intake ? If anyone has Tuner cat files for a 350 I think its a $6e I would like to view them... or even if they have the original spark table information for a L98 Manual speed on corvettes.. cause 3rd gen never seem to have this combination .. What did the rare camaro 1986 or 87 350 manual speed use ? you know the one they recalled because of torque stress..

What points for non-compatibility ?
if the 2 years use the same ECM, then the PIN out MUST be identical. or you could not buy one and replace it with the same unit... ON Both GM PARTS includes the SAME number for the Computer, they have different cases... Also Means that the computers Spark table and Fuel Charts are all stored in the same locations ( hexidecimal ) So what in fact is soo Different ?
I would not even think about trying it untill all avenues where exploited. So far , the only obstacle I have come across is the VATS system and CAGS ( or skipshift in our year).. Anything you have too offer as maybe even a theory not fact is Very welcome..

year earlier?
How about a chip from an '88? I'm not sure if GM made that combo that year, but if they did, you might be able to use it. Just a thought.

the only thing the chip controls is torque convertor lockup right? i have a 355 with a 5 speed and i run a 350 auto chip in mine, because mine was a 305 from the fact.
