Just confirming about the wiring. I have an 82 LG4 with no ECM from the factory (Cdn emissions). There is NO factory wiring at all going though the passenger side fender except the power antenna. Anything on that side is for the ECM only, so if you ditch it, you can remove all that wiring.

On my website (see sig below) there's pics and a description of how I wired my "ram air" system using a door lock motor.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I found it during a search for info on removing CFI and going to carb... That'll be on my site someday, too. Parts have been ordered, just waiting on their arrival.

My 83 Z "was" a CFI car. Last owner ditched CFI for a non-EGR carb/intake & removed all emissions. Would love to club him in the head for the mess he made. I hate this Edel carb he put on. From Houston to Dallas is about a 4 hour trip. Have to fill the car up twice to make it. I personally wouldn't ditch the CFI.

I hear you. I actually like the CFI. It looks cool and not very many of them left... However, this is my first "computer car" project (my last one was a '73 VW Bug and before that was a '69 Chevelle SS...) and it's frustrated the heck out of me! This is an extra vehicle in the family, so it isn't a daily driver, just my toy. Toys shouldn't frustarate you...
