Where to find 3800 Series II?

I want to to a swap of my 2.8L V6 with the 3800 Series II, like what is in the 4th gen birds. Anyone know of a place in California to get one of these with low miles with wiring harness/PCM?
Yes a donor car would work, I just dont want to pay through the teeth for a working car.

Thanks

im guessing that you are wanting to stay with a V6 for emissions since you are in Cali??

if that is the case, a 3800 will work, but its like swapping in a V8, you have to get motor mounts, a V8 radiator, and so on, inlcuding changing to a v8 tranny.

How ever a 3.4 is a pretty easy swap, and you dont have to change anything else...there is a tech article on the swap

From what I have seen and have been told, no the T-5 manual transmission will bolt right up to the 3800....

it will, but you will need a V8 bellhousing. no biggie to get one though

im not sure what cars you can get a 3800 out of, a f-body will be a wise choice sense it is set-up for RWD....one out of a FWD car will work, but i think you will have to re-arrange the accesories and oil pan

Yes I think I might on the accessories and pan possibly. However I could get a supercharger that way too Grand Prix came with them.

And I am wanting to stick to the V6 to have a unique car. At 200/225 hp/torque, I would have a V6 as good as a 305. Also with 25/35 Mpg its MUCH better then any V8 I have seen for fuel consumption...

Also, I am still researching, but I do not know if it needed a V8 bellhousing or not. people say it should bolt right up to the V6 one. I have been looking extensivly on the fiero forums, as they are doing this swap on a daily basis, so have several knowledgeable people with this engine, jus not the T5

i totally understand the unique idea!!

although being unique normally means being slower, but that is not alway bad

I was considering doing a L67 swap, but to me its not worth it. I know a guy thats running 11.7's with a GTP, although its pretty worked over. You cant just strap on a super charger to a L36, it just wont run right. I know for a fact that you need a V8 bell housing, but that will be the easiest part of the swap i think.

Well I am looking for the L67 and yes slower isn't bad esp as I like being able to go from 0-60 quickly, don't desire the high horses most folks want. This is/will be my daily driver so don't want to over do it either.

And L36? Is that the series I? I have been hearing only about the L67 so far.

Also since this is turning into a chat more then anything, if ya want email me, jurrel@tigerden.com. Sounds like you have looked into this more then I have so far.

L67=SC 3800
L36=3800 series 2 non SC

even the L36 with pretty much stock internals can be pretty quick, there a few running 14.3-14.6, not to bad with decent MPG.

I dont know a lot on the swap, just the basics...I looked into plenty of different swaps when i was swaping my 2.8 to V8.

I also know some about Grand Prix's. If you want to email me with some more specific questions i will be happy to answer them all in one shot other than responding like this
