engine too big

well I have a problem

my engine swap from a v6 to an 8 is proceeding

my 350 has an edelbrock performer rpm and an edelbrock carb sitting on it with an aircleaner.

with all of it here the hood will not close.
i was considering a cowl induction hood but do not know what size and if one vendor is better than another

thanks

go with a 2.5" cowl, looks bad ***. 4" is a little big and probably will restrict your vision looking across the hood.

What kinda base air cleaner are you using? And how much more do you need to get it to close. If you're using a flat base, you might wanna get a drop base air cleaner if you wanna be able to shut the hood before you can get another hood or a cowl. Also, if you're using a 3 inch tall filter, you could go down to a 2 inch tall one.

I had the same problem. There was no way around a cowl hood for me because the very top of the carb sat above the hoodline. If yours is the same, I'd recommend a 2" cowl. I bought a steel one from carhoods.com. It ended up costing 500 bucks with shipping. Fiberglass is cheaper, but in my opinion not worth it in the long run if you plan on having your car for a long time. You're only other option would be to buy a cowl to put on the hood you have now. I believe someone on this board did that and has pictures of what it looks like. It's the cheapest solution.
