tranny bolt up???????

sorry this is off the wall i looked but couldnt find it and i figured you guys would know

will a turbo 400 out of an 84 chev with a diesel fit a 73 olds 455 rocket

Nope. the 455 has a different bolt pattern. You will need an adapter.

I know Pontiac blocks use chevy transmissions, do olds blocks not?

Pontiac blocks do not use Chevy tranmissions. BOP (Buick Olds Pontiac) ones are named that for good reason.

My friend has a pontiac 350 in his 72 Ventura and runs a turbo 350. I thought the 350 and 455 were based on the same block?

No.

There are Chevy and BOP versions of both of those transmissions. Identical guts, different bolt pattern on the case.

I just called my friend and it all makes sense now. he has a universal bellhousing turbo 350, so that is why he is using a turbo 350 that bolts up to either or.
