2.8 Carb to 2.8I

I have a 2.8 84 Berlinetta with a carb and i want to switch it to the 2.8 86 camaro Fuel Injected engine. I have both whole cars what do I need to do to get the job done? Is the 84 set up to put the 86 2.8I engine in it?

You might have better luck with this on the V6 board.

If you have both whole cars, then you have everything you need my friend Yes, the 84 will support the 86 2.8. some things to watch for: You have to change the engine harness and ECM. You MAY have to change the dash harness. You will probably have to swap over the fuel lines, and the gas tank (your '84 I don't think has a provision for the '86 electric in tank pump, but your '86 gas tank does, and that will fit in your '84 just fine. You are going to have to make some wiring up for that fuel pump, just take it off the '86 and you'll be good to go. You pretty much want to swap over everything from that '86 except for stuff like springs and the like. Are both cars automatics? Both stick? one or the other?

I took the trans and rearend from the 86 and put them in the 84. But they both had the same 5 speed in them.
