Yes, you can use the t5. It won't last long at all if you plan on having fun with the lt1 though. The only thing that really needs to be hooked up from the trans to the Lt1 PCM is the VSS.
I'm running the lt1 w/t5 and do not have anything hook up to it(other then the reverse light harness). The T5 bellhousing installed like any other GM 350. I'm running the roc for 2 months w/o issues.

thats what i was gonna say...
i know many guys at or over 400 horse with t-5's that beat the **** of them, and it never misses a beat..
look at texas lt1's trap speed..109! thats 400 right there
shock kills the t-5 not torque
the lt1 flywheel IIRC is the same as a sbc one..
i beleive you can swap them to..

IIRC the lt1 and SBC flywheel are interchangable..u can use a t-5 with lt1 flywheel.. and i think u can use a sbc flywheel on a lt1

I only had one 3rd gen with a 5 speed and it was a 350 TBI. The trans never actually went bad....it did however get pretty beat up after 2 years of daily driving and summer weekends at the track. It was like putting a stick in heavy mud and trying to move it around. Needed a rebuild. If it will last with no problems, then I apologize...Good luck.
305 flywheel
No. I dont think that your 305 flywheel will work with your older engine (The 305 flywheel mounting hole is smaller). Unless you are using a newer model crank in your 350. You may need a flywheel off of a pre 85 305 that will have a mounting hole of about 2.5" to match your older crank. You will have to buy new. They are not in plentiful supply at junkyards anymore (i spend two weeks and finally bought a new one for the price of what a junk one was selling at)
yes, a 305 flywheel will work, thats what I'm using. no problems bolting it up or anything. I probably need a new one though since I've had mine resurfaced quite a few times from ****ty clutches glazing them.
