3.1V-6 to 305V-8 (5.0)help
Ok my dad found a 305 for cheap we plan on putting it in my car but im sure there will be a few things we will for get sense it's our first time doing it. the car the 305 is coming from is unknown it was used as a drag car but the motor was disqualified for the track. no idea why i think it was to much power for the weight or something im not for sure
My car is a 1992 camaro RS with the 3.1v-6. i was told my quite a few people that my trans mission will bolt right up to the bell-housing on the V-8. i know it had a computer because the guy said we can take the electronics is there anny major or small things that i might leave out.
P.S. sorry if u have a hard time reading it i am going to classes to get better at spelling and so forth.

I agree. The auto trans uses a COMPLETELY different bolting pattern for the V6 than the V8. Are you going to a carb setup?

You'll need alot more than an engine and transmission to complete the swap. Do a search on the subject and you will see what I mean. The best way to do a V-6 to V-8 swap is to buy a V-8 donor car that is wrecked or in worse shape than your car and swap over all the components. You'll need front springs, radiator and a few other things.
The easiest thing to do is stick with a carb. Converting over all the fuel injection stuff will be a real pain. Although depending on emissions testing in your area you may not be able to go with a carb.

well i found out a little more about the motor im getting it's a TBI 305, my transmission is a manual
hear are the things i know for a fact or real close to
1. belhousing is different but will bolt up to my trans mission
2. i will need a new radiator i get that with the motor
3. the front springs wont haf to be changed because it's only adding about 50 to 100lbs (but to keep the compleat controle your right front springs and shocks)
4. my trans mission will hold a V-8 but it wouldent be reckmonded to do a recerse drop
5. i can keep my rear end
6. the motor mounts that are on my V-6 are off an interseptor V-8
7. the coumputer wont haf to be redone because i get the one from the outher car
8. and last but not least ill need a lot of luck
