You use mechanical gauges.....you use a adjustable fuel pressure regulator with your stock pump...your power assist vacuum line connects to the carb...leave the computer in and you can wire in a TC lock-up switch pretty easy...a carb swap is much easier than the TPI..IMO.
The stock amp gauge will work...the speedo will work...the tach will need replaced either way..its a v-6 tach wont work...you have a v-8 tranny right?

The v-6 700r4 and the v-8 700r4 are not the same..you will need the v-8 version .

If you're still interested in using the comp and TPI, the computers will just unplug and switch. What year is the donor car, is it similar to the one you have?

AFAIK the computer itself is the same, in some variations of 2.8s and 350s; the ECM everybody tries to get for their speed-density TPI cars for example, is the 7730, which is in like every Buick 3800 equipped car there is, like Century, Cutlass, etc. etc.

The computer doesn't really care how many cylinders there are. It gets one pulse for each one from the distributor. All you have to do is tel it what to do with that pulse (PROM programming).

Yes you will need a V8 transmission.

The gauges also do not care about how many cylinders there are; except for 2 details. The tach is different (3 pulses from the dist per crank rev from a 6-cyl, 4 pulses per crank rev from a V8); and the 6-cyl oil pressure gauge is 80 psi full scale, the V8 one is 60 psi full scale.
