time for my junk yard hunt so i need correct info

don't believe there were any gm roller engines untill 87, 4.3 and 305 engines were also in trucks

i want to use a roller cam with motor and don't want to retro fit an older block

Most of those truck did not have roller cams installed. Some have the bosses in the lifter valley for a roller, some have them drilled and tapped, some don't.Sooooo pop off the intake and find out.

can anyone specify which models were cuase some of my searching is online

Do a search. One of the machineist type guys on here listed the part numbers for the blocks that have the RR lifter system.
