OK, first let me say I've searched the archives and have not really found any definitive answers... Here is what I'm looking at: 1985 Camaro FI 2.8 V6 auto and a 2001 3800 V6 auto Camaro drivetrain with 8,000 miles. I can get anything off the 2001 that I need as I'll be swapping some other work for all the necessary parts. Think of it as getting all the 2001 stuff for freee to do the swap. Can this be done or am I better off searching for a 4th gen to swap the parts into?

 

ANYTHING can be done with a little ingenuity and hard work... oh yeah and a few greenbacks. Monster Garage wouldn't exist if crazy $h*t could never be done...

I'd take EVERYTHING you can from the donor car... motor, wires, brain (ECM) Exhaust, right on down the line. The only potential snags I'd see are radiator hoses, wire routing and engine mounts. I THINK (not totally sure) the tranny x-member and mounts are similar.

Look at everything on the donor and how it's attached and take your time removing it. I'd say that's a steal if it's all free, and it's just costing your time and efforts...

 

Thanks 86Bird, the one snag I seem to have encountered is the motor mounts. It looks like something would need to be fabricated.
