Hey all, i'm currently building a 350 for my 1986 T/A, and i was wondering if these heads that i'm putting on will pass smog, they are the Edelbrock Performer RPM Aluminum heads, they say they were not meant for emmission vehicles, but will i have any problems with them and smogging it ?

Not sure. You will have a better chance if you are using F/I. If you go carb be prepared for trial and error with jet and a/f calibration.

well as you can see in my sig i have Tuned Port Injection

since those heads arent considered emissions legal, they wont have a carb number. wouldnt that send the smog ***** crazy at the place ur getting it done at? i would think that those heads dont look stock... so they will draw attention at the smog station.

The Performer heads are emisisons-legal and will flow all the TPI can give them, so why not just stick with them?

they are performer rpm heads, and i still plan on puttin them on. and it says they arnt mean for emissions but hell a lot of things arnt meant for that and still still pass, just wanted to know if anyone else has tried to pass with them....

They don't have a CARB #. That means, if the inspector notices them during the visual, it fails. Period.

Of course, if they don't notice them, your odds improve. Since there's no functional test that specifically checks for EGR operation, they may make it. But, if the car's ECM checks for it, and doesn't find it, and lights the Check Engine light, it fails. Period.

Seems kind of risky to me. Let us know if you get it through.

well the thing is, is i got these heads for $500 bucks with only 600 miles on them. so i gonna try to see if it'll pass with them. if it fails then looks like i'll be swappin some heads and re smoggin i think it'll pass though
