Ok im probably going to get a Camaro 90- 92 pretty soon as my first car. First off can i use the old trans from the 305 with with a lt1 or do i need to get a new one along with the engine. And do any of you guys know about any shops in sothern california that does engine swaps like this and that can give me a quote.

You can use the trans but if its an automatic you will have to use a 93 style throttle body so you can hook up the TV cable.

Do the swap yourself. From what I understand, once you get all the parts there's nothing really "custom" you have to do. That'll save you a lot of money. Good luck!

Please don't take offense, but the type of information you need can't be answered in a few quick sentences. Therefore since you don't even own the car yet most guys here aren't going to take the time to write a novel on how to do the swap. Go buy the car, get your finances together, and when you are ready start asking some more specific questions after you've read all the archived posts. I've found over the years that the guys here are very willing to help, assuming you've done your leg work and are ready to go.
