Take the carb'd stuff off, put the SPFI stuff on.
Then go the V6 forum and ask there, just to be sure...

i don't think you can do that because i was going to do that with my v8 trans am. i have a 305 tbi and i was going to make it a 350 but the 350 i was about to get was carburated and i found out that you can do it that way but it's not recommended because the heads get too much fuel then what they were made for cause the carb takes less fuel (example: on idle the fuel injection sprays more fuel and carb just dribbles) and then he said since it does that the fuel will get in the oil and then your bearings will go quicker. so that sucks.. but i was thinking since that would happen maybe you could switch the heads.. but you can't put the 350 heads on the 305 because it will just suck but you might be able to swap the heads on the 2.8 because it's the same motor.
thanks

The 305TBI/350carb comparison is pretty much completely irrelevant (and it can be done...).
My car started out as a cracked-block carb'd 2.8. I was looking for a replacement engine and was told by a JY that specialized in 3rd gens that a 2.8FI engine long-block was a viable replacement (unlike the 2.8 S10 engines). They didn't have one at the time (did have an S10 engine, though), and turned me onto a guy who bought & parted out insurance auction cars. As i was looking over the '86 2.8FI car, he said, "You sound like you'd prefer a V8 - how about this other '86...?"
