305tbi to 350LT1

Allright, I have a lot of questions on this subject and need answers very very shortly if someone has the time. First off i have an 88 camaro with a 305tbi and want to convert it to a 350 lt1 that I found on ebay which ends on sunday 18th around 3pm. Now I have a wc t-5 and air conditioning if that helps in the long run. Now what I want to do is take the 305 out and drop in a 350. I want to run a carb and and intake which I have being both edelbrocks. The carb being a 600cfm electric choke and the manifold being the performer that mounts up to the centerbolt heads.

I want a strong 350 pushing over 300hp if possible. I entend to run headers on this and I am ripping all emissions off of the car. Now will that LT1 bolt right in no problem? Secondly will the t-5 bolt up to the motor? If it will what mods do I have to change over? Now I have been told both ways on this that the computer runs the gauges and it doesnt run the gauges, which is this true? If you any imput on what I need exactly to change over to make this work I would very much appreciate it even if you recommend another motor over the LT1, i just chose that because it wasnt to badly priced for a long block. Any suggestions will do. Or point me to a site or post that will make this easier.

First of all, there is only one carb manifold made for the LT1, and it definitely isnt the Edelbrock performer. If you want to keep a carb, don't get an LT1.

Secondly, yes the T-5 bolts right up, thats what I'm running behind mine.

If you plan on keeping a/c with the LT1 you will either need to get vette accessories, or notch the frame to clear the crossmember. Then you will need all custom fuel, powersteering, and a/c lines.

Computer does not run the guages.

Just out of curiousity, how much is the LT1 you are bidding on?

Forgot one thing, I do have the serpentine setup from the 88 and would like to run the same thing on the 350, I wouldnt think I would have that much problems transfering it over as long as I kept the same style of heads that way I could keep the a/c where it should be should I?

Since you will be running the carb you will not need the computer at all. The only wiring that you will need is power, guage and sensor wires, and ignition.

I just checked the price on that LT1. That is an awesome price for the long block. I dont think you could fine a regular 350 for a better price. The LT1 carb manifold is only like $180. You could always get it and still get the LT1. When you originally said you wanted to get an LT1 I was thinking you were getting a near complete engine, which would run close to a grand. For that price I would still consider getting the LT1. The only problem you are going to run into is running the stock serpentine setup. Talk to SERPENT99 though, he apparently has found a way to use the stock accessory setup on an LT1.

Yah, well its running close on time and I would like a 350 that honestly I can use with the manifold I already have along with the serpentine setup. Now I did think of another question with the fuel pump I have in the car that is set on the TBI pressure, isnt that too much for a Carb? Do I need to get some type of fuel pump regulator to tone it down a little? If so I saw some on jegs called logs that look like they just bolt into the fuel line would that be my best bet ?

If you want to use what you have, then getting a regular 350 would be your best bet. As far as fuel goes, I really don't have any experience with carbs, so you'd probably be better off posting another message about that. I'd hate to give you wrong information.
