Engine: 357 vortec finished. need tuning
Transmission: Still works
Axle/Gears: need 3.73
Help build a motor to replace 305 TBI
Looking to replace my worn out 305tbi. Would like to replace it with a 350 engine and still keep the TBI set up. Would like the setup to have 300-350 HP. I need TGO's member to help me build an engine. Any advise would be appreciated. :hail:

Either rebuild the 305 or buy a 350 out of the same year or newer chevy van, caprice, truck, suburban, etc. If you want to be smog compliant you must use only carb approved parts. Even though somethings such as the cam, pistons, etc they don't check. I would say all external parts need to be carb approved. Don't think you can squeeze a 250*@.050 cam in there just because they can't see it. You will also have to retain the TBI system although you can get an edelbrock intake and Holley TBI

Not worried about smog laws, car has Michigan plates. I really would like to keep my TBI (willing to upgrade to Holley 670 or GM's 454 TBI) due to the simplicity of the system vice a TPI. Iwas thinking of getting a shortblock than add a LT1 cam with Vortec heads. I read the rich92rs350 thread. Thanks for the info.
