v6 manual swap?
its possible that someone is buying my gtp. so i will need another car. my one friend is selling a i belive 86 firebird v6 5-speed. i have another freind that races grand nationals and has the stock motor from his car complete with 34k on it. would it be possible to slide this motor in after finding a flywheel to fit the 5speed? how much work would it involve?

You'd have to find a bellhousing, too. The Buick V6 and 60 degree Chevy V6 have different bolt patterns.
You certainly aren't looking at a bolt-in swap. I believe all of the TTA's had TH200-4R's behind them (like the GN's), and there were differences between the things that bolted onto the TTA & GN engines (check the tech articles). The V6 T5 certainly won't be up to high-boost launches, but if properly babied, it'll do for a driver.
You're looking at an involved project. Whether it's worth it - probably not economically, but certainly would be a personally-rewarding long-term finished product.

hmm, so maybe a v8 5spd would be the order of the day. if they bolt to 2004r so does every other motor gm makes so it should work. mainly i gues ill have to look at mounting aplications. i just think that powerplant on a stick would be plain old badazz. the possibilities of it on an auto are evil enough. gonna have to do a search for gn/t-type sites for more info

Don't waste your time with a stick swap if you're SERIOUS about the GN motor swap. It's not worth the time and money, plus you'll go slower.
The V6 T5 will NOT bolt up..plus a T5 won't handle the torque a GN motor puts out...
I could go on and on as to why it's a VERY bad idea...but it's a lot to type lol.
I can if you want, but it's been done...the results sucked...it was wasted time and money to go much slower..plus even GM did it on a prototype TTA and the thing couldn't break out of the 14's...

The Buick V6 bellhousing pattern is different from Chevy V8 manual bellhousings as well.
GN's do well in the 1/4 with the automatic because they load the turbo up against the converter before launch. That's a lot harder to do with a stick, so the end result may not be as amazing as you might think. On the street, you just need to let the turbo wind up (that "turbo lag" thing, you know).
If you go for a T5, the preferred model is the "World Class" version. A T56 or Tremec would be better for real power, though.

Also there is NO need to twin turbo your GN motor. It's pointless unless you're going with a Stage 2 motor(BIIIIIG bucks there). A single turbo setup is just fine for what you're gonna run. Two turbos doesn't mean better than one.
