Timing Chain

I have a double roller timing chain and gears for my 305. Does anyone know if this will fit on an LT1? Or is it a different style.

Depends upon what 305 it is.

It is for an 89 TBI. So it is Roller cam.

Im not sure how youd run the LT1 waterpump with Gen.1 timing gears. The chain will work, the gears wont. If you use an electric waterpump, I see no reason why the Gen.1 set wouldnt work, but not with a stock LT1.

Oh, i assumed when he said "It is for an 89 TBI" i thought he was dropping the LT1 cam into the 305. In that case, yea, im not sure if it will clear the LT1 water pump or not.

Theres no question the timing set will clear the waterpump, but the engine something needs to turn the it, and the LT1 uses the upper timing gear. Are you putting the LT1 camshaft in a 305, or are you putting a 305 timing set on an LT1?
