It is unsafe to have a fuel cell in the front of the car. You will never be allowed to go down the track like that.

Hate to disagree, but there are no provisions in the NHRA rulebook that state fuel cells must be mounted in the rear of the vehicle. Must be outside of driver's compartment, and in the confines of the body, but it does not state that they are prohibited in the forward compartment. I have personally teched cars with fuel tanks mounted in front of the engine.

Now driving down the street is another matter all together...

I did not know that. I always thought it was not allowed. Thanks for the clear up. None the less it doesn't seem like a safe idea to cram such a volitol system in the confines of a 3rd gen engine bay.

I will totally agree with that, I wouldn't put it up there either.

I'm sure he's talking about a small 1 gal. cell or something. I plan on running a dedicated nitrous fuel system like that when I run it. Probably just take out the washer bottle and mount the cell right there. I don't see a problem with that.

Exacctly where I was going to put it..4 gal..strip only car. Seems a lot safer than having a bottle of N2o sitting right next to me! . Ive done my home work. I want my electric fuel pump as close to the carb as I can get it. Ill have a mallory 3 port plumbed in with a Holley blue with a return system just havent figured it out yet. thanks guys. Someone had a pic up here not too long ago but I cant find it..

That makes sense. I was under the impression that he wanted to use it for street applications and sorta cram it in there. The washer bottle area would be a good place.

I am doing this same thing. I actually just got my fuel cell today. I will be using a 1 gallon cell with a holley blue pump and return style regulator strictly for the nitrous system. Here is a pic of the cell. I will be installing this soon. I'll take more pictures when it's done.

well I went out and did some more work. My car is about 30mi away. There is now way I will get the 4 gal, cell in there without a lot of Modding. My cell has the to nipples at the bottom and one at the top. just the reverse of yours
The slope of the cell is just perfect for the slope in the luggage compartment. SUM-290110 Here is a pic. so I guess I will be running the hardlines up the passenger side. The stock lines are still running up the drivers side.(this was a v-6 car) I think i may just be able to move them over and use them again .
The instructions with the pump say to run a 2 filter system off the cell into one line out the regulator. Is this necessary or could I just run one line all the way up. Im Running a 800 holly mech secondaries. everything has been ported and polished professionally by" Racing Head Services" even the top of the intake has been ported and the center deal has been cut down. I'm not real sure I will be needing any return line at all.
Any opinions on this. Ive got a ton of money in this project now and things are beginning to get tight. althought I have a malory 3 port already from my first swap
