engine mounts
Hey, Im currently doing a 2.8L V6 to a 355 V8 swap and I need to know if the chassis motor mounts will work on the V8. I know I have to take them off and move them forward to the new holes, but the hole dont match up with the V6 mounts. Please help

we just did this in my garage a couple months ago and if memory serves correctly the v6 mounts and clamshells will sit the engine up higher in the engine bay and wont work and if you use the v8 clamshells ( engine side ) they are wider than the v6 chassy mounts.

yes you should definately buy new mounts if you go to autozone or napa or a parts store in your area they should be less than 20 bucks for the chassy side pair...you will have to go to a junk yard to get the clamshell engine side mounts ...you can buy them new thru gm but they will run about 100 bucks....lol...and you can get them at a junk yard for around 10 bucks

pulling the old mounts is not that hard if you have a shallow 15mm socket and a swivel and about 10 inches of extensions and a buddy to help
all you have to do is pull both tires so you can see inside the k member and see the bolts easy then feed the socket to the nuts on the inside and have a buddy hit em with an impact from the top you can get the top two on each side this way then on the inside ones we used a 15mm cheap wrench and bent it with a torch until it reached em real easy from underneath ..it works wonders i can get a pic of the wrench if ya want it was more or less a trial and error till we got it where we wanted it only took us including time to bend the wrench about an hour to change the mounts (taking out the old and bolting in the new) wasnt as bad as everyonesaid it would be ...

Yeah, me and the general heard horror stories about how bad it was gonna be. Not bad at all. When we were done Iwas kinda wondering why everyone made a big deal about it. Its not like we pulled the 2.3 out of a ford tempo from the top, huh general?
