A/C and engine swaps

I'm currently in the process of ripping out my L03 for a 406 sbc and had a quick question about the a/c...will it bolt up to my 406? what extra parts would be required? should i even do it or jus scrap the a/c in general?

Yes.

None.

I can see no reason for hacking it off and devaluing the car and making yourself less comfortable, if it's street-driven.

OBTW, it's a 400, not a 406. Regardless of the overbore.

It just irks me to see stuff like 355 and 406, when all it is, is a block that's had one step of routine maintenance done on it. Go look up pistons or rings in a cataolg: you don't see those numbers. You see 350 +.030", or 400 +.030".

It has only recently become popular among newcomers to the sport to call them that. It kind of identifies the user of the term as inexperienced. I'd like to think that there's nobody on this forum that fits that description (although I suspect I'm overly optimistic about that part of it).

A non-natural combo, like a 383 or 434, is a different matter. But a factory size motor with a little maintenance done to it should retain its original designation.

/rant mode off

anyhoo

unbolt the compressor and use wire or somthing to tie it off to the side.

when you swap motors, put the old brackets on the new motor.
then put the compressor back in... you dont even have to open the system.
